Okay, let’s be honest—how many of you have ever said, “I’ll launch when it’s perfect?” Or, “I’ll do it when it’s perfect?” 🙋 Maybe it’s your website, your Reels content, a LIVE Selling App, your email campaign, your YouTube Channel, your Marketing Funnel… you’re waiting until it’s flawless before you put it out into the world.

Here’s the truth: perfect is a myth. It doesn’t exist. What actually creates success is starting before you’re ready, starting messy, and learning as you go.
👉 Clarity comes from experience, not contemplation. Let me say that again: Clarity comes from experience not contemplation. You don’t figure things out in your head—you figure them out by taking action.
Let me tell you about the first time I launched my own website over 19 years ago. I didn’t have the fancy branding, I didn’t have pretty pictures, I didn’t even have nice packaging. I had duct tape holding things together behind the scenes.
I participated in a Gift Trade Show. I had a start-up company called Top Notch Glass Nail Files. I had no business being in this Trade Show, but I got an offer to share a booth with someone, and some catalog reps came along and loved my glass nail files. They wanted to refer me to some catalogs. I was so excited! But, what I wasn’t prepared for were the large wholesale orders that I had to carry a net 30 or net 60 on, and I didn’t know how to create an invoice or a packing slip. Nothing.
But when you get your first large order. You figure it out.

I thought I hit the mother-load when Publishers Clearing House ordered 10,000 small & medium nail files! But, they wanted them packaged together and with a barcode. So, I hand packaged all 10,000 files by putting them in a little bag, rolling them up, and taping them together – it was like a nail file cigar. My manufacturer kindly created bar codes for me, which I printed off on Avery labels. It took weeks, sitting in my living room, hand rolling 10,000 nail files and printing 10,000 bar codes.
But here’s what happened: I made mistakes—and those mistakes taught me more than any amount of waiting, planning, or ‘perfecting’ ever could.
If I had waited until I felt ready? I never would’ve shown up at that Gift Show. I would’ve stayed stuck in my head, chasing the unicorn of perfection. Starting messy gave me speed. And speed is what built momentum. My company became one of the largest suppliers of glass nail files in the US and Canada.

I’m thinking right now of Sonya Nix, owner of Better Than Before, who is killing it with her LIVE shows! She did her first LIVE show outside because the internet connection was better. The wind caught one of her rolling racks and sent it flying across the parking lot. She left the camera rolling while she chased down her rack. But you know what? She wrestled the rack back in front of the camera and got right back to selling.
So why is starting messy so powerful? Three reasons:
1. Action creates clarity. You don’t learn by thinking—you learn by doing. Every messy step teaches you what works (and what doesn’t).

2. Messy builds momentum. When you act, you generate energy. And momentum is way more valuable than sitting in paralysis waiting to feel ready.
3. The market rewards speed, not perfection. Your customers don’t care if your Canva design is flawless. They care if you show up consistently and offer them something valuable.
Here’s a mantra I want you to write down: ‘Done is better than perfect.’ Put it on a sticky note. tattoo it on your forehead. Whatever it takes.
This is where growth happens—not in the perfect, but in the practice. Every big brand, every successful entrepreneur you look up to—they all started messy. You’re in good company.
So, here’s your takeaway today:
Stop waiting for perfect. Start messy. Action beats perfection every single time.
This week, your challenge is to take that thing you’ve been overthinking, that you wrote in the comments, and launch the messy version. Post the reel. Write the email. Launch the funnel. Do the live. Create the Content. Whatever it is: Get it out there.
Let’s all ditch perception and get messy together!
